Multi-Leg bowl:

3D – Work

Hand carving + CNC milling, rust stained oak. 550x550x100mm. 2026.

Beyond my the continuing exploration of hybrid aesthetics and the tool pathing possibilities within the CAD software I use, this piece sought to make the digital tools of production more explicit.  So the multiple legs are physical manifestations of the angles of attack taken by the milling tool used to cut the spiral and radial patterns into the hand carved form. As the legs move from the exterior to the interior they indicate the start of the cutting regimes on each side (I.e. they are placed at the start of the cutting for the spirals on the inside surface and the radial patterns on the outside, conceptually and practically linking’ the two together.
