I am a maker and practice-based researcher based in the Northeast of England and currently Professor of Craft and Digital Making at Northumbria University.
My multidisciplinary background spans study and practice within the fields of fine art, ceramics, design and craft. As a digital craftsperson and researcher, I have investigated the integration of digital design and production technologies into craft practices for over twenty-five years. As such my work is concerned with the role and significance of digital tools within craft and creative practices more generally, both in terms of new aesthetic opportunities, but as importantly as a way of reflecting on, and critiquing, the mediating role of technologies and the impact this has at a personal and socio/cultural level.
Alongside publishing articles and conference papers I have exhibited work both nationally and internationally, including venues across the UK, Ireland, US, India, Germany, Australia and Estonia. More details can be found on my Exhibitions and Events and Publications pages.
